Silvercup Studios expands to Bronx with large new production facility

The stars are coming to the South Bronx.

Silvercup Studios, the Queens film and television production hub where hits such as “Sex and the City,” “The Sopranos,” “When Harry Met Sally” and “The Devil Wears Prada” were filmed, is expanding into the up-and-coming Port Morris section of the borough.

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today highlighted 10 New York-produced primetime television shows that are premiering next week for the fall season on CBS, NBC, ABC and FOX. The television shows have spent approximately $596 million combined on production in New York State, and hire more than 34,000 crew and extras. These 10 series premieres represents a significant increase in New York-based shows on air, as there are now more series airing this year than in all of 2013, which was a record-breaking year. Film tax credit draws French TV show to NYC

New York state's film tax credit has drawn its first foreign TV production to the city.

Brooklyn Taxi, a show about a police detective whose lousy driving skills push her to hire a cab driver as a chauffer, began filming on Monday. Based on a popular series of four movies set in Marseille, France, called Taxi, the TV show will be shot on location in Brooklyn and at Silvercup Studios in Queens. (Read the full story)
